3rd week of uni life...it's been kind of...lonely? like my schedule crashes with friends...and i know nobody in some of the lectures and tutorials i go to...sigh.):
i miss belonging to a class...that goes for classes together, have lunch together, slack at class bench together...yeah i miss JC life. people have been telling me to move on. sigh im trying to...just hope that i'll make many new friends fast...and most importantly, hope that old friends will stay in my life.♥

no more waking up at 7.30am every weekday...

left quietly today...not like i wanted any farewell party or whatever. i dont really talk to my fellow teachers much anyway, not alot of them know that today was my last day of work. i just hope that i've made a positive impact in the children's lives in some way, no matter how small the impact was... ♥

do i wish for the children to remember me? i dont want them to be sad that im leaving, but at the same time, it hurts to be forgotten just like that. after receiving the m&ms and pocky from me, the children happily went home with their parents/grandparents as if it was any other normal school day...maybe soon, they wont even remember who's teacher Eunice at all...):

still, im thankful that they appeared in my life, though only for a very short period of time. they've undoubtedly brought alot of joy to me during my work. i love it when they come to me and say, 'See, teacher Eunice, im a good girl/boy today because i _______' just to earn a hi-5 from me.(: ♥

my K1 students have been a great joy to teach. though they can be naughty or noisy at times, the little things they do like hi-5-ing me when they're given stars on their worksheet, keeping the classroom tidy, showing me that they can be good boys and girls when i ask them to, giving me random cards/sweets/stickers/hugs/kisses... they're like 13 little angels who make my job such an enjoyable one...(: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥
who cares about politics in workplace and what my boss thinks of me. those 13 lovely kids are the ones who matter.(: ♥

i have to write a caption on each of the 39 photos (of my students) and paste each photo on a colour paper and decorate every single colour paper...

and there's Parent-Teacher Conference on 28th May, 8-5pm (but im going to squeeze everything to before 2pm i dont care.)...meeting 13 pairs of parents omgosh. sounds scary...hope everything goes smoothly.

and collecting back consent forms from my class can be so tiring...i hope my teacher didnt feel the same way last time. i dont think i've ever handed in late forms in school before.

okay other than the above, teaching and taking care of the students can be quite fun and heartwarming.(: ♥
cos i have loving children who love to hug and kiss me! and they keep asking me to carry/piggy back them.-.- i think im the only teacher who does all these things.o.O
and it's nice to see little children help each other...awww.(: ♥

i've this favourite student called Bryan Moh Yee Xun! :D ♥
he's super sweet and helpful...that time i was erasing stuff and he voluntarily cleared all the eraser dust on the table for me! and it was alottttt of eraser dust...=X and he always picks up rubbish on the floor and throw them away, keeps pencils and crayons and erasers after lessons, arrange chairs and tables when they're messy...etc... all these little things really make my day!(: ♥

well of course there are naughty kids and irritating ones but they're still cute and adorable in their own ways i guess...

teachers who lie...
are the worst teachers you can ever meet.
seriously.
shouldnt teachers be role models for students to follow.

i'm starting to have second thoughts about my boss now. my first impression of her was: this kind old lady who loves and cares about children alot.
and now, she seems like any other business people who just cares about earning money. maybe she really needs money to support her own family. but since she's running a childcare, shouldnt she hire qualified teachers to educate children properly? even if the teacher doesnt hold a diploma in teaching, she should at least speak proper english, AND HAVE INTEGRITY AND AT LEAST THE SLIGHTEST SENSE OF RESPONSIBILITY.

she shouldnt hire a teacher who pronounces 'shellfish' as 'selfish', and lied to me that the office was locked and my confiscated (yes my phone is confiscated during working hours hahahahahaha i'm so treated like an adult.) phone was inside therefore i couldnt check my phone during lunchbreak. that teacher FREAKING had the key to the office. and after i knocked off and wanted to get my phone, i found out that the office was still locked and she had gone home long ago. i was panicking as i thought my phone was still inside and i had to rush to meet my brother right after work...then, some teacher randomly found my phone HIDDEN somewhere else in the childcare. and she did not even tell any other teacher the place where she hid my phone before she knocked off. what if nobody saw my phone...freak her seriously.

havent lost my temper in front of people for quite long. couldnt stand it today. sigh...how i wish i was still a student.

today was my last day at Bukit Panjang Caraven...well im glad that i dont have clear cockroaches and kill mosquitoes and settle stupid accounts anymore, but i'll really miss the primary school kids there.): ♥

will miss Madeline who usually visits me when she's rollerblading at ther void deck...though she talks alot of rubbish, she really brings alot of laughter into my life.xD ♥

will miss Jovy who usually drags her trolley school bag to the tuition centre, and likes me to piggyback her aroung the tuition centre.(: ♥

and i'll miss Mrs Yeong! really respect this teacher for her flexibility and her level of tolerance! there was once i forgot to print her notes and expected her to scold me, but she just smiled and said 'it's okay i'll just do other topics today then...' what a nice teacher! ;D ♥

lastly, i'll miss the place itself, for it holds special memories that i'll remember for a lifetime.(: ♥

've been crying alottttttttt for the past few days.

to everyone whose smses i have daoed for the past few days, really sorry cos im sick of telling people my results when they're nowhere near impressive, and then hearing all the 'it's not too bad lah' and ' it's quite alright what' over and over again. still, i really appreciate all your concern and encouragement.(: ♥

disappointed with what i've got cos it really doesnt reflect the amount of effort i've put in. but what can i say? there's always some way that i could have improved/done better. compared to my brother who was mugging for O'levels the same period i was mugging for A'levels, i really did very little in working towards my goal of doing well in studies.

i shouldnt be comparing.

-went prawn fishing! Yee Lyn's damn pro haha she caught more than 10 prawns in 2 short hours! i caught only 3 or 4 heh.): had cereal prawns for dinner yummmm! :D ♥

-christmas party~!!! ♥ had fun catching up with cousins~! at long long long last! played poker cards and some guessing number card game which my aunt was super excited about cos we couldnt figure out how she managed to guess all the numbers that we had in mind.xD

-how i insisted on wearing Jon's diapers (which were smaller cos he's two years younger) instead of mine and my mum had to transfer my diapers to the S size packet to bluff me that i was wearing S size instead of L.xD

-how Jon threw away my 知识画报 which i had to hand in to teacher out of the window during a random quarrel.xD

my colleagues: Yu Xian (i kept forgetting whether it was Yi Xuan or Yu Xian asked her quite a number of times haha.), Tessa, Sylvia, Angie, Angie Chew and Ms Lim!(: ♥
really thankful to have patient and approachable colleagues who are so willing to help and teach me all the admin and accounting stuff.(: ♥
working hours are quite sucky, but at least i get one free day every week! :D ♥
and work starts in the afternoon so still can go out for lunch/exercise/bowl in the morning.(: ♥
i must really MANAGE MY TIME PROPERLY~!!! i want to spend quality time with friends and family too.(: ♥♥

it's only when one enters the working world where one tends to appreciate even a simple home cooked meal. at least for me. omw home from work i just felt like CHIONGING home to have my dinner and spending time with family and maid haha.(: ♥♥♥

maid's going home for a week...flight's on monday morning. and for that one week, i must make my own bed, cook my own meals, iron my own clothes, etc etc etc. no longer that spoilt Eunice anymore!(: ♥

somehow yesterday's (or today's) class outing was much (x10000) more enjoyable than prom. prom would have been much better if the whole class was sitting together, or at least the whole table was filled with people from our class.):
all i ate there were a few mouths of the first three dishes plus a spoonful of some weird dessert.-.-
the only thing i enjoyed about prom was taking photos with all my precious friends. everyone looked super nice and smart! :D ♥

CLASS OUTING AT AIRPORT WAS FUNNNNNNNNNNN! :D ♥
though my feet had blisters and i wasted like 6 plasters (thank you Yi Zhang, Yi Jiao and Sylvie! my wonderful plaster suppliers!)...ended up walking barefooted everywhere in the airport.=/ thank you Sylvie for offering to walk barefooted with me haha!(: ♥
felt really carefree after taking off the heels...not caring about the stares from strangers of course haha especially at macs.=P ♥
played monopoly deal for the first time at Starbucks! :D ♥
was really blur at first but after i got hold of the game concept it was super fun! nice game man hahaha Yi Zhang and Yi Jiao kept plotting against each other.xD
and i won the first game out of sheer luck.o.O fine with some help from Zong Xian too.xD
went to the viewing gallery after that, where we played more monopoly deal, then Zong Xian Meng Ke Hua Peng and i decided to play bridge! :D ♥
won most of the rounds yayyyy hehehe! learnt alot of rules that i didnt know about initially.o.O and got alot of game tips from Zong Xian the pro haha!xP
chatted and camwhored after that!(: i want more of such outings rahhhhh! with the WHOLE class.(: ♥
then Meng Ke had to go home to pack his stuff cos he had a flight at 8am.):
had breakfast at Macs while waiting for Meng Ke to come back to the airport so that we could send him off. shared cab home with Yijiao and Zong Xian...fare cost: 40++ bucks omgosh.=X but feet was really painful so yeah no choice heh.):

friday was the last official school day...):
saw Xinyan's fb status, and i guess we really have to face this fact. two years of untested friendship. which are the ones that are going to last? the guys will be going for NS, some will be going overseas to further their studies. everyone will be taking their own different routes after A'levels.

really hope to stay in touch with all my dear friends in Hwa Chong. yall have given me the best 2 years of my life so far. let them not stay as the 'best 2 years', cos i know the best years are ahead.(: ♥

enjoyed taking pictures with the class! something we havent been doing as a whole class for quite some time. our class may not have been the most united one, but i know that most of us still cherish the friendships forged during these two years. i love 09s61!(: ♥♥♥

today is the most 狼狈 day i've ever had in a long long time.

shant go into the details, but yeah thanks Jessica for dressing my wounds! and thank you Jing Ying for taking care of me in the bus and lending me your iphone for distraction while Jessica was cleaning my wounds! :D ♥

i really felt super pampered by two of them this morning. and the most touching thing was, we just got to know each other this morning! before today's incident, Jing Ying was just a girl who takes bus from the same stop as me, someone whom i'd usually just say hi to. 've never met Jessica till today. got to know her cos Jing Ying specially went to find a friend who used to be in first aid CCA to dress my wounds.(: so helpful! :D ♥

glad that i've made 2 new friends today! maybe my injury is a blessing in disguise.(: ♥

super funny hahaha the juniors had to enter this super dark room and Cyril took a candid shot of every single junior the moment they opened the door after knocking. xD Mabel's reaction was the best, 'hey can i take another one?' HAHAHA.xD
impressed by the alot of the answers given by various juniors, and im really glad that most if not all of them are really committed to the team, and that the juniors are generally close to everyone in the team! looking forward to see the both girls and guys team getting seeded next year.(: ♥

-playing cards! :D :D ♥
okay we played cards like every single day of the chalet but never mind.xD super fun! bridge, slapjack (CHANG FENG SLAPS SUPER HARD, Daniel's super slow HAHAHA) , asshole daidee (okay fine most of the time i was the 'asshole'.:( ), and last but not least, uno. it was Daniel VS me in the end, and i won thanks to Yu's help! =P ♥
played till like 5plus in the morning. some of us slept in the room (7-8 people on 2 beds...great job.) while others slept downstairs/stayed awake for the whole night at the park.o.O

-WHEN THE SUN SET INTO THE SKY HAHA!
only slept for slightly more than an hour. then Junyan, Daniel Tai and i went to find Xinyan Aaron and Yuxuan to watch the sunrise together! :D :D :D ♥
but we took superrrrrrr long to find them and by the time we found them the sun was already high up in the sky.-.- and they didnt manage to catch the sunrise anyway cos they chose the wrong spot or sth.-.-

SL camp~! :D ♥ (a.k.a mini bowling team CIP! =P ♥)
really enjoyed those 4 days spent with CSL children, with fellow volunteers, and of course, with my dear teammates!(: (: (: (: (: (: ♥♥♥♥♥
waking up early every morning to meet Sok at the lrt, travelling to Jurong East to wait for people who always end up late (i wonder who! =P), travelling to AMK with Yuxuan, Rachel, Aaron and Daniel and taking bus and walking past that 'Muddy+Ulu= Malu' path, making sure that my hair doesnt brush against that branch sticking out from nowhere...i miss all of that. ): ♥

1st day!(: ♥
had fun playing Hopscotch with Xavier and Zhi Jie and Chester (did i spell his name correctly?)! havent played that for YEARS man the last time i actually played that was in RGPS.xD glad i've not lost touch yet.xD then we played some 'di di di 鸡蛋鸡蛋看谁的鸡蛋先破' which was also one of my childhood games HAHA.xD it was great re-living my childhood days! :D ♥

tuition was...horrible haha they kept throwing pencils and paper planes all over. was impressed by how patient my teammates were though! never knew they could handle kids so well, seriously! :D ♥

it was quite hard controlling the noise level during workshops. proud of my mentee, Xavier, though! he was listening and taking notes throughout the workshop!(: ♥

2nd day!(:
spent most of PE time playing piano with Joel, Joseph and the guy from China! Joseph may seem playful and violent and all, but when it comes to learning how to play the piano, he's actually very serious!(: ♥ as for Joel, everyone loves him HAHA.xD he's Rachel's though.):
oh and Joel came up with many pokemon nicknames for random people haha i was Vulpix, Rachel was Pika-ah-choo, Hansen was some Sudowoodo HAHAHA.xD Joel's really cute! and the guai-est among all the guys.xD ♥

tuition was SURPRISINGLY quite peaceful...haha we just had fun playing bingo with Joel and fellow volunteers.xD xD ♥

3rd day!(:
skipped PE! xD enjoyed rehearsing and singing with Hua Peng and Hansen! really glad that our first 'public jamming session' went well! it was super touching to hear the girls singing and clapping along with us. was a little nervous at the start but their smiles made all the uneasiness disappear! and when we were singing 1234 i got super high haha! that was our best performance imo!(: ♥

hmm i wish i could say that the boys' session went well too...but, sigh. we gave our best though. no regrets!(: ♥

went to AMK library with teammates after the camp! haha we spent like half an hour walking from the mrt to the library...o.O besides studying, we had fun poking Rachel, watching Aaron make some aeroplane structure with his ruler and pencil and my highlighter caps!xD played 10-by-10 bingo too!(it has sort of become our tradition to end off every mugging session with this game i dont know why hahaha.xD) ♥

after that we walked around AMK for dont know how long just to decide on where to settle down for dinner.xD really love their company, even when we're just doing random silly things together.xD super fun people to be with.(: ♥

4th day!(:
went to AMK hub to get stuff for the kids cos it was our last day there...ended up buying our own lunch and snacks too ahem ahem.=X xD ♥

had fun learning Apollo Fac Dance with them! Chester picked the dance moves up real quickly! great dancer in the making!(: ♥

was really sad when the whole thing ended. some of the children asked when were going back to visit, and i said '...after my exams...'. i really meant it. will find time to go back with teammates someday!(: ♥
hope they'd still remember us then.(: they've no idea how much joy they've brought to me.(: ♥

oh and some guy wrongly accused Xavier for things that he did not do. and the teacher chose to believe that guy instead. really felt sad for Xavier. though i didnt really witness the whole incident, after mentoring Xavier for 4 days, i really believe that he wouldnt do such a thing. it sucks to be scolded when you're not the one at fault.):

2-3rd June

lazy to blog about mentoring camp in detail...so, in short, had alot of fun with the children!(: ♥ definitely worth waking up as if it was a normal school day, fetching kids from woodlands to Hwa Chong with Elizabeth, camwhoring in the bus, playing ice breakers, amazing race (we got third! :D ♥), doing science experiments like rocket launching and making parachutes (our egg didnt break yay! =P), sodache sessions (took quite a while to master 'Gako the Frog'!), and last but not least, campfire!(: (though our group's skit was screwed but who cares haha.=P)

made quite a number of new friends during mentoring camp!(: ♥
(De Yi, Elizabeth, Ting Li, Jolene, Yong Hwee, Jingjing, Shihui!) :D ♥
super nice people who love children just like i do! hehehe.=P ♥
group members included Aaziz, Salahuddin, Syafiq, Aadnan, Darren, Jedd, and errrr two other guys whose names i seriously cant recall at the moment.=X not exactly the most high group or whatever, but i really applaud them for putting in their best during the games!(: ♥

drank loads of milo haha! Aden and Yuxuan queue for super long then Sok and i just went to the other side of the van and got our milo without even having to queue. =D

after CSM, Sok, Aden, Pok, Yuxuan and i went to West mall for lunch!(: ♥

and they spotted a habit which i didnt even realise i had until yesterday. 'WHATEVER' hahaha. omgosh i didnt know i had been saying that so often. then again alot of people say that quite often too, according to my observations during the bbq at night. oh well, WHATEVER.=P

after that was bowling at Bukit Batok CSC~! :D :D :D ♥♥♥

Jun Yan, Jia Ying, Daniel Low and gang were there too! then after that Daniel Tai, Chang Feng, Fang Lin and Magnus joined in too. :D :D ♥

they keyed it different funny names for me like Eupiu and Eumiss HAHA. didnt exactly bowl very well, but i had alot of fun! it was nice being able to bowl with teammates again. miss that feeling alot. love all the hi-5s and piu piu piu haha.=P ♥

and someone won my average by one mark.-.- dont care i must beat him the next time round!=P

OH YEAH on the way to westmall i found out that i left my phone in school, so Sok called Jun Yan to take it for me since he was still in school then. and when he came he passed me the phone without the pouch. and i was like 'huh then my pouch leh?' then he went 'huh that's seriously your pouch ah? i saw it but didnt know whether it was yours or not and it said "go away nosey" so i just left it there'. omgosh and i believed him okay.-.-

but yeah in the end got my pouch back. thank you Jun Yan!(: ♥ (though you bluffed me haha.tsk.xD)

after bowling we went to Jia Ying's house to bathe/play cards before finally starting to BBQ! :D ♥

yay quite happy there were quite alot of people who went (considering that it was quite a last minute thing)

Daniel Tai was super amusing haha Magnus was being thrown into the pool and Daniel wanted to play a prank by happily switching one of his shoes with Magnus so that Magnus wont be able to find his shoe. then Magnus took revenge by placing Daniel's shoe next to the pool. and in the end Daniel got thrown into the pool as well.xD xD

nevertheless, we've fought hard. at least i know i did.

but one major major error that i've made was the mentality i had during doubles. i kept wanting to strike. and when i didnt, i felt so disappointed that my second shots were mostly affected and i had alot of 9pins misses. really pulled my score down by alot. and the subsequent days...everything just spiralled downwards. had alot of doubts even though i tried to shut them out. bad habits came back. (first step was big, kept swinging out, lousy follow-through) during the last game in quartet2, i told myself that all i wanted to do was just to enjoy the last game and not care about anything else.

i cant believe that everything's over. i want to go back to 26/04/10...then i can get rid of all the stupid mistakes that i've made. omgosh sorry sorry sorry.)':

did not feel that i've improved much today as compared to yesterday. 1st game was quite crappy (took like 4 frames to find my line.) , 2nd game could have been much much better!!! scored 107 by the 5th frame (XXX9-9/), then the whole system suddenly shut down due to some thunderstorm. when it started working again i lost the striking and sparing spree and had a few LOUSY opened frames (like 5 pins miss.):). plus a couple more spares and a strike, my final score was 167. sad didnt manage to break record. oh well! tomorrow will be better!(: (: (: ♥

come on Eunice, EXCEED 200! you've been bowling strikes and spares quite consistently. just be EVEN MORE consistent THROUGHOUT the whole game and you'll make it!!! it's all about MINDSET.(: ♥

bowled a game during the last half an hour or so. haha the system was quite screwed up it kept skipping some of our turns! haha Nigel, Shirley and i were bowling like 6th frame or something while Yuxuan, Roy and Melvin were still stuck at 3rd frame. O.0

super nice cooling weather during 2.4km run, and despite my flu i managed to ALMOST get a C, which is already a super huge achievement for me, considering my lousy stamina and the fact that im still having flu and that i havent been training. hehehe.=P ♥
and for the first time, i felt good after the run! usually i would feel giddy and not walk straight. haha. perhaps it was due to the realisation that I WONT BE HAVING ANYMORE 2.4KM NAPFA TESTS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. :D :D

i think i've become more consistent in hitting my targets and bowling my lines. 10-10 went well today. many strikes and spares woohoo! :D :D ♥
still have to work on pin 10 as well as 3-10 spares. glad that we'll be purely working on spares tomorrow! ;) ♥
the other schools may be cheering their lungs out and making a hell lot of noise during trainings, and though we dont do that cos it's so not us, im sure that everyone can sense the support from every teammate during trainings, and that's what really bonds us together. love the way we look out for one anothers' shots and hi-5 each other after every spare/strike/good shot.(: ♥♥♥
who says you need to scream your encouragement out loud in order for it to be heard? firstly, it's super distracting and pressurizing. secondly, it's super disturbing to other people bowling on the lane next to you.-.- thirdly, if cheering for your teammate becomes a routine and not something heartfelt, it defeats the whole purpose and all the cheering would just become empty noise.
i prefer Hwa Chong Bowling Team's way of showing encouragement a million times more.(: ♥♥♥

HC Bowling team's STRIKING HOT. :D ♥

really happy to be part of this team. my 'bowling journey' has truly been a meaningful one thus far, and i want to thank everyone for making this journey such a wonderful one. especially those who have been with me since sec1.(: ♥

still remember how we cried when the VP wanted to close down Nanyang Bowling CCA. being sec1s, our voices had no power whatsoever then. we fought hard for 2+ years and reinstated it back to an OFFICIAL CCA in 2008. (really have to thank Rachel cos she put in the most effort in making this happen. and coach Denny as well, for not giving up on us.) ♥

that was only the start of my 'bowling journey'. alot more happened during my first year in HC bowling team, which was last year. from one of the better bowlers in the Nanyang team, my standard dropped to being one of the last, all cos of a single drilling mistake by some random guy. took me a hell lot of time to get rid of the bad habit caused by that mistake. was super sad that i didnt get into the team. and to make things worse, coach Denny was there during A-divs 2009. 'you're not bowling? are you some dua pai reserve or something???' i'll never ever ever forget the way he said that. really thankful for the faith that he had in me, even though he wasnt my coach anymore.(': ♥

bowling was really a painful experience then. all the gutter shots, how coach made me repeatedly bowl 2-steps while others were training their 5-steps. pretty much started from ground zero. cried ALOT of times out of frustration. thinking back, that was seriously one of the most 'emo' parts of my life.=/

fortunately, things got better. and most importantly, our team somehow became more united this year, especially after the J1s joined in. i dont know why, but i just have this growing sense of belonging in this team. every wednesday i just wish for CT to end quickly. on fridays, lit lecture always seems to drag on so slowly. then after that, time seems to zoom past like nobody's business. why? cos im spending time with my teammates.(: ♥

glad i made it into the team this year. but it really wouldnt have been possible without my teammates' support and encouragement. and i hope that i'd do the team proud. i'm definitely not the best bowler in the girls' team. but i'll train hard and improve to be the best bowler i can be.(: ♥

still remember something that someone said during the mentoring workshop. he and his Tahan teammates were hiking. they were super tired, but their seniors told them not to stop. so all of them held hands and just pulled each other forward. when one person got tired, the others would used their strength to pull him forward. and they just used each other's strength to get everybody to the destination.(: ♥
jiayou HC bowling!(: though bowling is an individual game, but im sure with everyone encouraging each other, we can all defeat the lanes together!(: ♥

MOVING ON.(:

this week has been a really lousy week for me...super glad that it ended well.(: the children in Clementi Primary School MADE MY DAY.(: ♥

went for my first mentoring session this afternoon! i was told that the children were quite naughty so i was mentally prepared for the worst, but they turned out to be a group of really fun children!(: ♥

spent the first hour teaching them math and english. my mentee for today was Mohammad!(: he was very attentive and eager to learn so we managed to finish 2 worksheets in one hour! and he was the only one who finished both worksheets! -claps- :D :D ♥

the next hour was PLAYTIME! :D :D ♥

havent been playing freeze&melt for a very very very long time, and i must say that those children really have super good stamina!=P ♥

then we switched to some game whereby two people had to hold hands and catch other people and the people who were caught had to join hands with the catchers and start to catch other people and the chain extended till everyone was caught! and YES Gretal chose ME and another girl to kickstart the game and be the first two catchers. omgosh it was super tiring! and as the chain got longer and i was in the middle of the chain i started getting pulled at both directions. :O but nevertheless it was super super fun! cos everyone just ran and screamed and laughed and DE-STRESSED. :D :D ♥

the last game was poison wall! we had to pass through the 'walls' which were actually made of 3 people standing in a row. in other words the people forming the 'walls' were supposed to catch those people who were trying to run past them. haha that was the easiest game out of the 3!=P ♥

that one hour of playtime seemed really really short. and when time was up, not only did the mentees went 'huhhh...', the mentors did too.): guess we all just want to re-live our childhood days and just spend time running about without having to care about any school work for awhile. really treasured those 60 minutes.(: ♥

but then again, it is precisely because of this super hectic JC life that i've learnt to treasure whatever playtime that i have.(: so i'm still glad that im in JC!(: ♥

got to know some of the other students too! like Bing Sheng, Daniel, Federick, Rosaline...etc. shall make it a point to remember all the students' names by the next 2 or 3 sessions!(: ♥

Bing Sheng's a really cute guy btw haha he went around playing the same April's Fool joke on everyone. xD 'eh got money on the floor! hahahaha April's Fool!' xD xD ♥

oh and i forgot to mention about something at the start! 25 mentors went down to Clementi Primary School today, thinking that there would be 50 students. but the teacher only informed us when we've reached there that less than 20 students would be turning up cos of some p5 excursion. then Gretal was like 'hi mentors, really sorry but we dont need so many mentors today, so if any of yall want to go home, you actually can, and you'll still be rewarded CIP hours for today cos it's not your fault.' and guess what, nobody actually wanted to leave! super heartwarming to know that all of us have this genuine willingness to take care of the primary school students and we did not sign up merely just to clock CIP hours.(': ♥♥♥

really glad to be in this mentoring club!(: ♥♥

it constantly reminds me of my ambition to be a child psychologist. serves as a motivation to study hard and be a good example to them too!(: ♥♥

the past week has been a crazy one. funny how something that has zero percentage can turn many students into no-life people haha.xP

on the other hand, i've really learnt to appreciate the little things in life. it's under this kind of circumstances when we would really actively find reasons to smile for. and actually, the reasons are not super hard to find after all.(: ♥

really thankful that Hwa Chong has such wonderful teachers to make our consultation slots more interesting and enjoyable! teachers like Mrs Chua, Ms Wong and Mr Teo are really amazing people.(: ♥

really learnt alot from them. especially Mr Teo. respect him alot.(: ♥

anyway! i saw this SUPER sweet couple on the bus last friday on the way home! (not those disgusting PDA type HAHA.) they were on the way home from work i think. then the guy offered to carry the lady's file and they held hands and talked and laughed together. sweeeet!=P ♥

you could really tell that they were smiling from the bottom of their hearts haha.(: ♥

bought new shoes! yay okay having new shoes really makes me very happy haha!=P ♥

Gretal and Meiling went home after the lunch break, while the rest of us (09s61, 10s61 and 10s7B) went to unload and separate the clothings and newspapers. haha that was in fact the most interesting part of the whole CIP thing. first time getting onto a lorry...xD xD

it's really amazing to still keep in touch with primary school friends, since most of us are not in the same JC anymore. the speaker (Nicholas) was a professional psychologist, and i must say that he's super influential and inspiring! :D really learnt ALOT from him. being a mentor to those primary school students is not just making sure that they finish their homework, but it's about building their lives and bringing out the best in them, by maintaining a close relationship with them.(: ♥

enjoyed the activities that were planned for the whole workshop! from the laughing exercise, to the acid river game, to the awesome videos that were screened (Facing Giants was super touching! i teared while watching it.:') ), to Nicholas's lesson on how mentoring skills, to sharing about our personal role models in life, and of course making new friends through this fantastic programme! (Chen Rong, Si Man, Wei Long, Dominic, Tabitha, Charlene, Dawn... and others!)

this workshop has really re-confirmed my desire to be a child psychologist.(: ♥

okay im supposed to be chionging my econs tutorial now...hmm.=X
anyway, had a great CNY!(: ♥

1st day:
first destination was Thomson (house where my paternal family gathers)! had a great time catching up with cousins and relatives! especially cousins whom i dont usually meet during other gatherings (Adeline and Gary). and yeah my cousins finally got to catch up with Jonathan Kho the full-time mugger.=P ♥

then we went to my maternal grandparents' house (Pasir Ris) for lunch!(: ♥
nothing beats my grandma's cooking man! love all the dishes that she cooks...and of course her home-made red date tea which is the drink i always look forward to having every CNY! :D ♥
played truth or dare with my cousins (im the oldest btw! but i love playing with children so no problem. :D), they dared me to wear my grandma's clothes omgosh. :O

oh oh i have to blog about Uncle Nick's Power Balance wristband! :D :D ♥
it's this super cool device which enables one to have a stronger sense of balance. did a couple of experiments with it and it really really works! :D :D ♥
planning to buy one for myself! helps alot in bowling!(: ♥

oh and not to forget Uncle Derrick's antique camera! he showed us this camera that his father gave him, it was what our grandparents' generation used to take photos with! super cool! :D
but everything was working except the capture button.): or maybe there's no film or something, but we couldnt take pictures with it.o.O
still it was fun taking pictures WITH it (as in posing together with the camera haha.) =P ♥

ate loads and loads of CNY food! but i surprisingly LOST weight! :D :D ♥ (kept weighing myself to keep track cos CNY is the period of time when most would gain weight.) a few more kg to lose before i reach my ideal weight hehehe.=P ♥

2nd day:
breakfast at Yan Palace Restaurant!(: my maternal family has this tradition of having breakfast there every CNY.(: ♥

after that was more home-visiting! went to Aunt Joyce's house and Uncle Francis's house. collected loads of hongbaos hehehe.xP ♥
then went back to Begonia for family dinner (BOTH sides this time! yes my dad's brother got married to my mum's sister, so Wee Ben and Yee Lyn are actually my cousins from both sides. :D :D ♥)

had ALOT of fun! played table tennis for the SECOND time in my life HAHA!=PpPp ♥
with paternal cousins! (Harrison, Daniel, Kedi, Tammy, Jefferson, Wee Ben, Yee Lyn and Jonathan) kept missing the ball initially but eventually got better! :D ♥
table tennis's quite fun actually! especially with such great company haha.=P ♥ (plus Daniel Kho's sound effects HAHA.=P ♥)

learnt abit of guitar from Uncle Derrick! :D :D ♥
truly amazed by his ability to play the melody and chords at the same time. it's similar to playing the piano actually, but yeah quite tedious to translate everything from pressing piano keys to plucking guitar strings. still learning! :D ♥

and last but not least, our usual game of slapjack! :D ♥
it was even more enjoyable with more cousins playing this time! haha Desmond and Jonathan kept ending up with the most cards cos of their slow reaction.xD xD

stayed over at Begonia for one night!(: ♥
sad that i probably wont be able to stay during the next 2 long holidays due to tests and exams and all. never mind i'll stay longer during december after A-levels!(: going to miss Yee Lyn dearly.): ♥

feels weird not updating for so long, so here i am!(: ♥

i've finally got my spare ball! :D ♥
didnt want to spend so much money buying a brand new ball since there are only a few more months to go before we're suspended from CCA for A-levels... (which is sad, cos i'd miss HC bowling alot!): ). so i bought a second hand one from Gwen Chow! it was a great offer, cos she hardly used the ball, and i only paid 5/8 of the original price! :D ♥

made my way down to Marina Square to re-drill my ball last saturday. Mr Jason Tan was really kind! he couldnt finish re-drilling my ball that day, so he offered to deliver it to me since he lives nearby, and he actually polished my ball for free even though i didnt ask him to! :D ♥
now my spare ball looks shiny and nice, thanks to Mr Tan!(: ♥

celebrated Kedi's birthday at Ikea! it was my first trip there! :D ♥
and Ikea really knows how to do business! it even promote the chairs that it's selling by using the same type of chairs in for its cafe so that people get to try them out! impressive. =P ♥
went to Anchor Point after that, and we got a tub of B&J Cake Batter ice cream as a substitute for a birthday cake!xP ♥

first activity was SWIMMING! played water polo in the pool, but decided to play captain's ball at the tennis court instead, so we just entered the tennis court in our swimsuits and barefooted, and just started playing! teamed up with Harrison, Wee Ben and Jing Yi, played against Kedi, Daniel, Tammy and TJ! though most of us slipped and fell and ended up with blisters on our soles and bruises on our knees and butts, we just forgot all the pain and went on playing and laughing! that was how much fun we were having.(: (: ♥

after playing for idontknowhowlong (the sun was setting by the time we stopped playing!), we went back to the pool and continued playing water polo haha by that time Yee Lyn had arrived, so she became the referee and instead of scoring goals at either ends of the super long pool, we decided to score by passing the ball to Yee Lyn through some hand rail! haha it was super fun (i seriously need to expand my vocab!) cos it was dark and all of us didnt put on goggles so the water kept getting into our eyes and we couldnt really see where we were aiming.xD ♥

woke up at 6plus somehow (dont ask me why.xD), washed up and DID HOUSEWORK! :D ♥
the table wasnt cleared from the previous night so i just decided to clean up the mess.=P that was my first time doing housework in eons! :D that's why i must blog about it.xD

had a long chat with Harrison cos we were the only ones awake HAHA the others slept like some dead logs.xD
talked about ALOT of things! glad that we've finally managed to catch up!(: (: ♥
cos we dont usually get to chat for long in school. busy vice pres. tsktsk.xD

it was super heartwarming to read what everyone wrote to me on my piece of paper.(: loads of love!(: ♥
the leaders prepared something special for everyone! each of us had a personalised certificate with a description of our character on it haha! i'm described as 'The Joyful One'!(: ♥

today, during children's church service, there was this boy who sat in one corner when everyone was happily singing away. he had that sad look on his face, so i went over to ask if he was okay. he just kept quiet and stared at the floor. then, from the corner of my eye i saw his elder brother walking towards him. i expected to see some form of comforting gesture but...

elder bro: hey, give me back my fifty cents, if not i'll not lend you my shoes anymore. i'll not lend you my toys also.
younger bro: your coin is not with me...
elder bro: i dont care, you must give me back. -reached out for younger bro's pocket-
younger bro: i really dont have! -pushes elder brother away- -tears welling up his eyes-

a teacher came, and he told the younger brother to stand at a corner. (he saw from afar that the younger brother pushed the elder brother first, so he assumed that the younger one started the trouble.)
i felt really sad for the younger brother, cos it was clearly not his fault. really regretted not telling the teacher the whole story. (he walked off after punishing the younger one.)

misunderstandings. guess nobody's perfect after all.

this incident has also made me reflect. was i like that to my brother in the past? yes, to a certain extent. we got into a couple of fights before when we were young. but as we grew up, i began to appreciate and love my brother more and more. he's really the best brother one can ever have in this entire world!(: ♥

have been caught up with a very interesting and touching and sweet korean drama: Boys Over Flowers!(: ♥
i dont really watch korean dramas, but i just had a sudden urge to watch this one, cos i've watched the taiwan version of meteor garden before, and wanted to see how a korean one would turn out. and im glad i watched it! :D ♥
it's funny how i can be crying like mad one moment then laughing my lungs out the next while watching the drama.=P ♥

really honoured to be able to serve in children's church. though i will not be able to serve as often next year due to A-levels, i'll still try to serve as much as i can. it's heartwarming to be able to witness the childlike faith in them. and it increases my faith too.(: ♥

though im not THAT crazy about this whole singing competition thing, but yeah Charles and Tabitha are my favourite contestants out of the top 4.
Charles's beatboxing and guitar skills are really impressive.(: ♥
and since it's his performing style i dont see why he should change just because the judges claim that he's doing the same thing every week. sigh. admit that his vocals are not as strong as the other 3, but yeah i just like the way he changes the style of all his song choices just to suit his own personality.(:

lesson #1: sometimes the best way to get rid of saddening stuff is to just focus on playing and getting high and crazy, instead of mentioning those stuff. when there's a reason to smile and laugh, it gives you more motivation to keep it that way, rather than focusing on sad stuff. ♥

helped out in a children's church event 'kids@play!' with Julia on sunday. though we were only serving at the registeration booth for the playground, we still got to interact with the children and it was really alot of fun!(: gained joy from just watching them playing and running around, riding those mini bikes and cars and sliding down slides...they're super cute!(: ♥
really made me love children even more.(: ♥

lesson #2: when someone makes a mistake and expects to be scolded by you, by not scolding that person, you can actually make a really great impact on him/her. and all the more that person would be willing to learn from that mistake and change.(: ♥

happened twice to the same person.(: shant mention his/her name though.

lesson #3: on the other hand, if you scold someone with an aim to make him/her stretch his limits, using the right words, it may actually motivate that person to change for the better. people can tell from the tone and words whether a scolding is out of genuine concern or just pure demoralisation.(: ♥

was chatting with Jenzi and Jermain on monday, and somehow i got reminded of the day Weisheng scolded me. he was giving me tuition a day before my chemistry test in sec 4. and i forgot everything about redox even though he had taught me very long ago. and he got very angry and just started scolding me. cant really remember the words he used, but i remember feeling motivated to work even harder after that scolding. not to prove him wrong, but rather to prove him right, that i can do better. he asked me to aim for a B3 (yeah shows how unprepared i was for that test.). in the end i got an unexpected A1!(: ♥
can never thank him enough.(: ♥

lesson #3: bringing up the past happiness helps to strengthen the current relationship you have with that person, no matter how cold your relationship is now with that person. when both parties have a common ground, it makes it easier to relate to one another, and somehow it brings people closer. there's this desire to re-live the past. and when the past happiness becomes the present, it becomes the best gift ever from heaven.(: ♥

lesson #4: gained some knowledge about bowling while i was getting my ball re-drilled. from Jason's advise and the way he took the measurements and re-drilled my ball, could really tell that he was an experienced bowler. told him all my bad habits, and when he told me the reasons for all the mistakes i've made, i was really shocked. all of them were very very very true! and i didnt notice some of them until he mentioned them to me.(: ♥

hello! shall blog about sabbaticals! :D ♥

as most of you should have known by now, i opted for Cue Sports at first, but Ms Chua put me in Vocal Singing Workshop by mistake, and she forgot to change. and i didnt know till the day before so it was too late to tell her to change by then. so yeah i just went for Vocal Singing Workshop in the end. AND I WAS ABSOLUTELY GLAD I DID! it was really a blessing in disguise! :D :D ♥ ♥

first day! :D ♥
Celine (our instructor), wanted to test out our singing voices. so yeah we all had to sing individually in front of her and the rest of the class. i chose 彩虹!(: Jay Chou rocks hehe.=P ♥
next, we got splited into groups cos we had to do a group presentation the next day. my group's name is Different, by the way!(: cos yeah other groups were named after various math topics like Integration and Vectors and S&S...but our group didnt want to be named Differentiation, so we just called ourselves Different. :D ♥
group members: Ying Hui, Eunice, Waiyee, Chinkiat, Theodore and Song Yu!(: ♥

after lunch, Celine taught us many basic singing skills. really learnt alot! different vocal registers, rhythm, using diaphragm to project my voice(i've always wanted to learn but didnt have a chance till that day!) breathing, facial expressions, stage presentation, dynamics etc. :D ♥

then, we had another round of individual presentation. chose 说好的幸福呢 this time. wrong song choice...sort of screwed up my breathing timing and all...ended up using alot of falsettos (假音) unnecessarily cos of lack of breath.-.- but oh well it was a learning experience.(: ♥

second day! :D ♥
learnt vocal stylistics! :D and we were supposed to work in groups to present 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star', applying what we've learnt about vocal stylistics to it. ours turned out quite well in my opinion! :D ♥

Waiyee, Ying Hui and Song Yu sang the main melody, i sang the back vocals, Theodore did the bass and beatboxing and Chinkian did Ad-lib!(: ♥
the other groups were quite interesting too! it was really fun to see the different ways each group presented the same song.(: ♥
we also did another group song of our own choice. our group did I'm Yours by Jason Mraz!(: ♥

after that was preparation for our final individual song. this time there was a professional judge to watch us and give us comments! and her name happened to be Eunice too.=X
had a hard time choosing a song this time...my first time singing in front of a judge! haha. chose 给我一首歌的时间 by Jay Chou in the end. and i just kept replaying the song over and over again the day before! i think my brother was sort of disturbed by my loud singing cos he was mugging for his chemistry paper hehe.=P ♥(sorry Jon! =X)
when my name was called, i just went up and gave it my best shot. and yeah i was quite satisfied with my attempt this time.=P at least i didnt go out of tune.=P ♥

shall summarise the comments received from Eunice and Celine!(: ♥
-nice tone (:
-too muffled, must open up mouth more.
-dont cover the mike with your hands while singing
-it'd be better if you choose a female song next time.

some may be wondering why i actually took this sabbatical course so seriously. in fact, i was also surprised by myself! but yeah all the more i've been convinced that i really do love singing, and it was awesome to be part of a group of people who are also passionate about singing. i have to admit that there are many others out there whose singing voices are much better than me! :D ♥ enjoyed hearing them sing! :D. ♥
glad that i've made new friends through this workshop!(: caught up with quite a few friends during the sabbatical too! Glenn, Zheng Rui, Louisa, Kok Seng, Roy, Waiyee and Yinghui.(: ♥

it's been almost a year since my trip to Taiwan. really miss the friends i've made in Taiwan very badly.): and of course, all the places i've visited, 复旦高中，台北第一女校， all the night markets, 台北美术馆，美术公园，小人国，and the Shang Ri La countryside place.(: ♥
i miss all those lessons in both schools, all the students were very friendly and enthusiastic! made me feel kind of guilty, cos when students from overseas come to visit Nanyang, we dont really have that kind of enthusiasm to get to know them.=X ♥
i love the culture there. it's just, different from Singapore. everyone has the genuine heart to make friends and care for each other. i might be generalizing, but that was what i really felt when i was attending lessons with the two classes.(: ♥
and not to forget all those pictures taken with Katherine, Zixin, Cheong Yinghui and Tiffany!(: ♥
going crazy in our hotel rooms, playing with fireworks, shopping, trying our luck to get those soft toy keychains from that machine, taking neoprints, attending lessons on how to write chinese compos, plucking fruits, t-shirt designing, gymming (HAHA!), making tang yuan, top-spinning, all those theme park rides, and sight-seeing, and of course, trying out all the local dishes!(: ♥
rahh. beautiful memories.(: ♥
really want to re-live them all over again.(: ♥

yesterday and today, it suddenly dawned upon me the amount of hard work our teachers have been putting in to help us. i noticed all their tired and weary faces while i was in the consultation room. yet they still bothered to put up a smile as they cleared their students' doubts. this morning, i was having math consultation with Mrs Chua, and there were two other students consulting her at the same time. it was pretty amazing how she just kept moving and changing seats to attend to each and everyone of her students personally whenever we had questions. normally, students should be the ones going to their teacher. but today, the reverse happened. and i was really touched by that.(: ♥

It's been a GREAT weekend! :D ♥

especially yesterday. cos? there was finally a complete family outing together.(: ♥
well, basically, my family doesnt normally have meals together. so yeah, to have a complete family outing (me, my brother and my parents) is quite rare.(: ♥
had an early birthday celebration for mummy! :D forgot the name of the place we ate, but yeah they sell awesome roasted duck!=P ♥
had fun camwhoring too haha!(: (yes this post is going to contain loads of pictures. :D :D ♥)
after that, we had dessert at TONG SHUI CAFE! :D ♥
that was my 2nd time having dessert there. 1st time was with cousins and Aunt Joyce and Uncle Tommy! :D :D after 2008 new year countdown haha. still remember it was like 1plus am in the morning.xD xD ♥
anyway, they sell really weird stuff like hot ginger coke (?!?!) and cappucino with coke.-.-
but yeah didnt touch all those. xD xD had my favourite toast with horlicks powder and condensed milk on it! :D :D super sweeeet! :D :D ♥
was really bloated after everything haha we walked one bus stop before taking bus home. xD xD
